More about the raffle quilt

My quilt guild does exibitions every 2,5 years, so that we have one in spring and the next in autumn. We exibit quilts, sell little items, cakes and coffee and we sell tickets for a raffle quilt. We donate the money from the tickets for charity.
The next exibition is planned for autumn 2007, but we have already pieced the raffle quilt in January this year. We met on a week-end, everybody prepared some food and we spent two days on piecing the quilt. We finished the first raffle quilt during Sunday morning and after a short break for food and champagne we started the raffle quilt for the climbing frame of the kindergarten. Each member pieced 6 crazy blocks with fabric from the stash. That was realy funny, because everybody shared their memories about the fabric. Often we knew where we bought the fabric (a certain quilt shop, a fair) and in which quilt the fabric was used.
We finished the blocks at home and some time later we cut the sashings, pieced the cornerstones and finished the top. We also did the sandwich together and now I'm doing the handquilting. First of all I was against the cornerstones, because you have to do a good job that everything fits together tidy and neat (which isn't the case on all cornerstones). But the quilting now is much easier, because I can draw the pattern from cornerstone to cornerstone without worrying about the conjunctions.
Here is a picture of the raffle quilt of the last exebition we did in March 2005. We bought only the dark fabric, the light fabric came from our stashes. The money we made was donated to the church community center. They needed a new dishwasher and a elevator for handicaped members of the church so that they can take part on the meeting which take place in the first floor.
