Why do I quilt by hand and what I use

There are two reasons why I handquilt:
First, I'm not very good with the machine. Even I sew quilttops and cloth with my Pfaff I'm not very good in machine quilting. Maybe I will take a class somewhere in the future.
Second, I love to sit in the livingroom together with my family and quilt. I'm crafting by hand since I've been a teenager. I knitted and cross-stiched (like my mother did).

My handquilting knowledge comes from a class that was held by Andrea Stracke. She is a german quilt artist and she does wonderful classes. She is not a patchworker because she is specialised in wholecloth quilts and she already won prices for her quilts. (If you have some time to spare then visit her galery here.)

I use Roxanne or John James Needles #11 or #12. My favorite thread is YLI (on the wooden spool) or Valdani (which comes from Rumenia).
